Sr. Analyst, Legal Process Management

Summary: Coordinates the handling and disposition of legal services for the company and ensures the prompt turn around and processing of all legal requests. Maintains complex routing protocols and knowledge of the enterprise to ensure all legal services are reviewed, analyzed and routed to the appropriate business unites for handling and response. Provides consultation on projects regarding department and company initiatives for process improvement and other innovative initiatives.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager, Process Management Counsel.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

• Applies strong analytical skills to review legal services, issue spot and determine appropriate disposition for routing

• Implement methods to improve process efficiencies in order to manage the volume of services that are received and ensure prompt attention and turnaround

• Keep excellent notes and histories on matters for research and review

• Execute problem-solving and collaboration skills

• Lead through influence and strong communication skills

• Conduct investigations to identify root cause issues that are impacting service or technology applications

• Create reports and analytics to understand volumes, trends and other important aspects related to service of process

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

License/Certification/Designation: Paralegal certification preferred

Experience: Three or more years working in paced face environment with multiple platforms and systems. Preferably experience in a legal environment with exposure to various pleadings and legal papers.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify best workflows for team. Proficiency with various platforms and tools, including but not limited to legal matter management, and Office 365. Highly organized and detail oriented, but also adaptive and able to rise above the detail to see broader implications and anticipate both short and long-term consequences and/or cause and effect of decision-making. Highly collaborative, credible, engaging and authoritative with an ability to build strong working relationships at all levels across the company and with external partners. Ability to work with ambiguity in a highly matrixed organization. Demonstrated comfort navigating through change and leading others through change. Passion for building or enhancing process. Strong time-management skills. Self-starter/Pro-active. Exemplary communication skills. Job Description

Reports To: Manager/Director

Key Responsibilities:

Under minimal guidance, designs, develops, configures, customizes, documents, deploys, maintains and upgrades business and system processes and procedures.

Under minimal guidance, may perform the day-to-day operations of business and systems processes, including the operation of process-related tools. Facilitates key process events and fulfills customer requests and process deliverables through all phases of the process lifecycle.

Under minimal guidance, initiates, enables and supports process redesign and/or re-engineering initiatives and projects through continuous process improvements. Identifies and markets new and creative business and systems process redesigns.

Under minimal guidance, performs process evaluations and develops recommendations by use of benchmarks, pilots, prototyping and modeling to assess potential use of new methods and workflows within a business and/or system process. Evaluates business and systems processes for design effectiveness and resource utilization to ensure process performance meets targeted service levels.

Develops and provides recommendations on possible process, tool and control enhancements to increase the quality and optimization of business services and resources.

Under minimal guidance, works with customers and project teams to develop business cases and comprehensive project plans to identify, quantify, and deliver process design efforts in support of business objectives.

Participates on a project team involved with the development, implementation, administration, and operation of new business and system processes, which may include multiple functions, product lines, and business activities. Facilitates post-implementation and conformance reviews for moderately complex processes to ensure conformance to process requirements.

Under minimal guidance, implements, maintains, and operates basic process design, operational, and measurement tools and methods in order to design, operate, monitor and improve business and/or system processes.

Maintains collaborative relationships with vendors, partners and suppliers to support customer or systems plans. Participates in service evaluations regarding outside consulting service vendors.

May begin to act as a source of training and guidance for less experienced staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Undergraduate degree in areas related to Business or Mathematics related field preferred.

License/Certifications: Process-related certifications desired.

Experience: Typically three years of experience in business process design or operations.

Knowledge: Maintains current understanding of business trends to support process design and operations to improve performance. Maintains current understanding of insurance and financial services industry, focusing on the Nationwide enterprise and key competitors.

Skills/Competencies: Must have the ability to analyze or operate moderately complex processes and systems. Must possess process design or operation skills and be able to determine redesign effects on existing processes and tools. Must have moderate decision-making skills for process operation and design solution recommendations. Must have written and verbal communication skills to prepare and communicate process plans, procedures and deliverables as well as to interact with all levels within the company.
